I just test drove a 7265. When I depress the foot pedal for the hydro forward, I can feel a high frequency hydraulic vibration (almost a 'squeal') tramsitted to my foot through the pedal until the foot pedal is pretty much fully depressed. It is more apparent in M than in L and even more so in H range. The dealer, who has always been very good to deal with, says this occurs as the hydraulics start to engage and that it is normal. My only other experience with hydro has been on a small frame Kubota and I noticed no such vibration. Is this normal and if not, what may the the cause?

I guess I'll be the one to put my neck on the chopping block. I'll start out by saying I like the Cub Cadets, especially for the price point. My first suggestion would be to find another at a ddifferent dealer and see if that is the same. If so test drive a Kuboata,JD,Kioti or any of the other brands and you should be able to answer your own question. ....

It is so hard to tell what someone else is describing as they do all feel different. A kubota can take off from virtually an idle and accelerate to full speed in high range. I haven't found any others that can do that much below 1500 rpm. Many tractors do to the pump size might cavitate which is what this sounds like from your description. I, like Doc do respect the Cadet compacts as the majority of them are built by Mitsibitshi and we have sold them from the beginning with IH. We have not had a lot of trouble with them. Your best bet is to find another Cadet as they are the only ones you can actually compare it to and be fair to that tractor. If you like the dealer express your concerns of the transmission and ask him to extend his warrantee on the transmission alone. ....

Art, I just went out and tested this on my JD 4310. High C range, 1000 rpm, stomp the eHydro pedal - no hesitation or bucking it just drove off.

Does the Cadet have an ehydro type system? Two separate and distinct hydro sytems. I believe that a certain amount of what he describes is to be expected with a hydro static drive such as the high pitched whine. I think Art had the best solution. Compare it to another like it. ....

I guess I'd better get on a new Deere and brush up. The last one I tried it on was not a E-hydro. I did drive a E-hydro at a dealership but the dealer recognized me from his office and interrupted his salesmens pitch and I didn't get to really run it thru it's paces. So far we have had no trade-ins of them either. Chief, E-hydro is only a deere deal. Some companies like Kubota do put additional manual valving in to modulate any shocks to the drive which is done thru the electronic variable unit in the new Deeres. ....

I thought I had replied earlier but my message isn't showing up. I did test drive a JD4210 and didn't notice a vibration. My earlier experience with the small chassis Kubota didn't turn up any either. I'm not able to find another CC nearby except for the small frame gas models with the hydro. When I increased the RPM to about 1500 on the CC, the vibration went away so I guess it might be a cavitation issue. There was no noise or anything just a slight high frequency vibration. Sort of a buzzing feeling to the foot. This only occurred if I tried to very slowly depress the pedal, not if I stomped on it.
Bottom line, I traded the CC7234 on the 7265. The backhoe that fit the 7234 fits the 7265 so I don't lose the BH to a trade. I got the 7265 and FEL for $16,000 and was offered $8000 on the 7234 with its FEL (both FEL were 417's). I think the price on the 7265 was a good one, the tractor and loader for less than the MSRP on the tractor alone. I got $1000 more on the trade than the JD dealer offered. My CC dealer has a great operation and I've been more than happy with the service over the years. For example, I was thinking of getting a post hole digger but was not sure if one would work well on the property due to the many large limestone rocks. The dealer let be borrow a used PHD for the weekend to find out.
Looking forward to the machine. Plan to start out building some planting beds for momma.

dutchk, congrats on the trade up! I know EXACTLY what you mean about limestone soil. Seems like the soil grows rocks here in TN. I bought a Land Pride PD25 PHD with my 4410 that I have not tried out yet. I hope to be able to incorporate it in my small lawn/landscaping business to plant trees and maybe drill a few holes for fences for customers and around the farm. Let me know how your PHD works in the rocky soil. ....

Art, I realized today that I did your test with the LoadMatch switch turned on. That probably makes a difference. I'll retry the test without LoadMatch and report back on the results.
